Audio with digital book containing the poetry and etchings
A poignant and original telling of the Easter story that combines music by Dan Goren for solo cello performed Beth Porter, and poems by Maggie Goren written in response to Michael Fell etchings of the same title read by Sheila Probert.
"In the somewhat godless age in which we live I think a central theme to my poetic interpretation of the prints was the
natural element of doubt which is part of being human; Christ and his disciples experienced it, alongside Pilate, the Sanhedrin and in extension all of us seeking meaning to life, which can possibly only be overcome with continuing hope, faith and love. As far as what I might bring to this overwhelming dramatic and key story in all our lives, especially in its expression through music, literature, painting and sculpture across centuries is simply a very personal interpretation presented in a public forum, hopefully in that way bringing that story into daily life.
I have always felt that the 'cello has the most human voice of nearly all orchestral instruments. Its tonal breadth and range evokes for me the deepest expression of human emotion.... so surely a fitting instrument to accompany the story of the Passion."
